Pure filtered water, high fructose corn syrup, orange and tangerine juices from concentrate, natural flavors, citric acid, ascorbic acid, potassium citrate, yellow 5, blue 1. I’m gonna go back in time and point this out to my ma and say “SEE! THIS IS GOOD FOR ME!” I guess I should dive into what is in this drink then!ġ0% juice. Obviously, this is to celebrate Ghostbusters from the top of the can. There’s a small slice at the very bottom too. Well, the orange at the bottom was supposed to resemble an orange from the looks of it. From other pictures online, I think it is just me. I’m thinking that’s just how these were painted. I bought about 4 cans and they all look like this. Overall, this can looks kind of distressed, doesn’t it? It looks like it sat in the sun for a while and it lost its colour. This is just green with an ooze effect to it. They were usually yellow and had the fruit of whatever flavour it was busting out on a wave of coloured juice. It also doesn’t really look like the Hi-C I remember. I don’t ever remember seeing it in a can like this one. Now, Hi-C was in a little paper juice pouch. If you were even cooler, you had Capri Sun, but I’ll save that for another day. I was stuck with apple juice or whatever while all the cool kids had their Hi-C drinks. My ma wouldn’t buy it because it wasn’t healthy. The thing is, Hi-C is pretty much just sugar and water. Not bad, eh?Īnyway, Hi-C was the cool kid drink when I was a young’in. I didn’t actually know it was re-released when the movie came out, but I did happen to find this at my local bargain store. Well, I suppose they decided to re-release Ecto Cooler because of that new Ghostbusters movie that came out a while back. It had that Slimer ghost from Ghostbusters on it. What I do know is that Ecto Cooler was, well, cool. I think the same flavour stayed around since this is basically an orange drink by Hi-C, but it went by other names like “Orange Lavaburst.” I remember that one more fondly. This is a blast from the past, eh? Ecto Cooler was all the rage for kids, but then it went away.

You don't need to configure a registry if you're going to use only public images hosted on Docker Hub. Docker uses registries to distribute images. Docker images are executable packages for running containers. The best and strongest of the FDA approved antibiotics are effective for a handful of bacteria at best, whereas colloidal silver is supremely effective against just about every kind of single celled pathogen, including bacteria, fungal growths and viruses (which antibiotics are often wrongly prescribed for, despite the fact that antibiotics have no effect on viruses). What is also true about colloidal silver is that it is far safer, more effective and less expensive than the marginally effective and side effect laden mainstream antibiotics – and has mainstream and university studies proving it dating back to the early 1900’s. Karason actually appears to enjoy his notoriety as the Papa Smurf blue man, and even though he sings the praises of how colloidal silver saved his life and the many ailments he believes it cured, the focus of attention is on his blue skin – a condition that is actually reversible with proper diet and herbal cleanses despite mainstream claims to the contrary. I daresay that any prescribed or over-the-counter medication whose recommended dosage was a couple of teaspoons a day would do far worse than turn a person blue if they drank a quart or more of it a year! For the sake of comparison, drinking a quart or more per day of colloidal silver would be like a person taking several bottles of aspirin a day, a practice that would be lethal in short order. In the case of Karason, he made his own ionic silver at home for almost two decades and for many years consumed a quart or more per day. Silver has been used effectively by mankind to fight germs and ailments for thousands of years, and the instances of modern use of colloidal silver turning people’s skin blue are so rare as to be almost non-existent – and unlike thousands of prescribed and approved over-the-counter mainstream medications including the common aspirin, silver has never killed anyone.Īs a matter of fact, almost all of the relative handful of reported instances have involved one or more of the following: older silver products that contained as much as 10% or more silver (compared to mere parts per million in modern colloidal silver), silver nitrate, home made colloidal silver that was contaminated with salt, and silver that has been consumed continuously in very large quantities over a very long period of time. The truth is that mainstream medicine has a very good reason to cry long and loud about colloidal silver, because it does represent a very real danger – a danger to the huge profits of the pharmaceutical industry’s patented antibiotics. Colloidal Silver Has Mainstream Medicine “Singing the Blues” (The Best Years in Life) The widespread mainstream media coverage of the “blue man” Paul Karason and his rare skin condition known as Argyria is part of a series of largely misleading and sensationalized scare stories about the dangers of colloidal silver turning a person’s skin blue.Īlthough the Karason story did not appear to originate from mainstream medicine or the FDA, there is little doubt that they have welcomed it with open arms and have been quick to trot out “medical experts” and past FDA warnings to help “sing the blues” about colloidal silver. Thankfully, the lamp comes with two brightness settings, so it’s easy to start with the dimmer setting and work your way up to the brighter one. That’s the recommended light intensity for a light therapy lamp, but it may seem harsh at first. The Verilux HappyLight Light Therapy Lamp was one of the most effective lamps we tested, boosting our energy level every time we used it.Īt its brightest, the lamp delivers 10,000 lux of light. Then we had a physician and a member of our Review Board review the article for medical accuracy. And they also assessed the lamps for design, ease of use, and value. Every day, testers noted their mood, energy level, and sleep quality before and after using their lamp. Each tester assessed one lamp at a time, using that lamp for 30 minutes daily for five straight days. To find the best light therapy lamps, we tested 15 top-rated options at home, performing five-day tests to find the eight best lamps. A good light therapy lamp should suit your space, offer 10,000 lux of light exposure, and make it easy to adjust brightness when needed. And though it’s unclear how light therapy works, some suspect the bright light exposure may boost serotonin (the “happy chemical” that naturally occurs in our bodies) or reset our circadian rhythms. As you shop for light therapy lamps, consider size, style, light intensity, and brightness settings. Regular light therapy has been shown to alleviate symptoms of SAD, depression, and other mood disorders. Some of the best aspects of light therapy are that you don't need a prescription to reap the benefits, the lamps are widely available, and you can use them at home: Simply turn on your light therapy lamp and sit near it for a set period of time (typically 15–60 minutes). There’s the added bonus of a USB port to charge your phone and you can connect via Bluetooth to stream music or podcasts.Light therapy lamps are bright lamps commonly used to boost mood and energy levels or to treat conditions such as seasonal affective disorder (SAD), depression, or sleep disorders. It’s actually a Class 1 graded medical device. Ideal for bad sleepers, this wake up light alarm clock is designed to help with insomnia. They also tend to feature a whole host of other helpful functions like a variety of natural sounds, FM radio, varying colours, reading or mood light settings as well as charging ports in compact and contemporary designs that would look stylish on your bedside table. According to research commissioned by The Weather Channel and YouGov, one in three people in the UK are affected by this, especially in the winter months when early mornings and long hours sitting in an office can mean that you could go days without seeing daylight. Wake up alarms can also help those suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) as a form of light therapy. These devices may be small but they are mighty, where the effect of a slow summer sunrise encourages your body to stop producing the sleep hormone melatonin in favour of the mood-enhancing, feel-good hormone serotonin.

It’s not the first such complaint the Commission has received from Microsoft rivals, though. Then, it may choose to open an investigation into whether that dominance is being abused.Īt the end of that investigation, it may issue a statement of objections, to which the parties to the case may respond before the Commission reaches a formal decision, which may result in enforcing action or a fine. The first step in that procedure is to determine whether Microsoft holds a dominant position in the market the complaint concerns. It said, “Microsoft uses its dominance in productivity software to direct European customers to its own Azure cloud infrastructure to the detriment of European cloud infrastructure providers and users of IT services.”ĬISPE declined to provide full details of its complaint, citing the need to give the European Commission’s case team time to read it first, but has released an executive summary.Ī European Commission spokeswoman said that CISPE had informed the Commission it would submit a complaint against Microsoft, and that the Commission would assess it based on its standard procedure. On November 9, 2022, CISPE filed a formal complaint with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition (DG Comp), the top antitrust authority for the European Union’s 27 member states. It was those restrictions that annoyed Cloud Infrastructure Service Providers in Europe (CISPE), a Belgian non-profit whose members include Amazon Web Services, a raft of French web and application hosting companies (of which the best-known is OVH), Leaseweb in the Netherlands, and other domestic and multinational hosting companies based in Finland, Italy, and Spain. That’s great news for small regional cloud hosts - unless their services, like those of Netherlands-based Leaseweb, include the creation of hybrid clouds involving their own infrastructure and that of Microsoft Azure, or one of the other hyperscalers on Microsoft’s exclusion list. Enterprises can’t move their existing licensed software to the clouds of Alibaba, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure or any outsourcer relying on their infrastructure, and they would instead have to acquire new licenses from the relevant hosting service. However, changes also include some notable restrictions. It is possible to change which device is associated with Backblaze by either transferring the license or inheriting the backup state on the new device. And IDrive starts at $79.50 per year for 5TB of storage, which you can share among as many devices as you like. Other services, including SpiderOak and IDrive, let you add multiple computers and mobile devices to one account. So, if you need to back up five PCs, the cost increases to $350 per year. However, with Backblaze, you have to get licenses for each computer you want to protect. (Editors' Note: Livedrive is owned by Ziff Davis, PCMag's parent company.)īackblaze's unlimited storage is generous, especially compared with SpiderOak One Backup, which charges $99 annually for just 250GB of space. Backblaze doesn't offer a permanent free account level like Editors' Choice winner IDrive's 10GB account or Livedrive's 5GB account, but you can get a 15-day trial. You can also pay $130 every two years for the service. Backblaze charges $7 per month or $70 per year and offers unlimited cloud backup storage for one computer. How Much Does Backblaze Cost?įor those with just one computer to worry about, Backblaze is cost-effective compared with other online backup services. While Backblaze is suitable for some people, others should look to Editors' Choice winners IDrive for a better value backup service or ShadowProtect SPX Desktop for full disk image backups. The service performed well in our upload speed tests but it doesn't have a folder-syncing option, nor can it back up your mobile devices. Its back-up-everything approach will appeal to newcomers, but more advanced users may want more control over the selection. It should go without saying that the ideal solution would be a combination of both local backups and cloud based backups.Backblaze proves that the best backup software doesn't need to be expensive or complicated, with simple setup and unlimited backup storage for a single PC. You house could burn down and your media would still be safe on a server in the cloud. That's a huge reason that online backups are a good idea. How would you feel if you lost your image libraries? It would be devastating. Imagine if you we're one those unlucky folks who we're caught up the path of Hurricane Sandy. It also works on Windows but most photographers these days are running on OSX. Here are a few screenshots of Backblaze running on a Mac. Whatever the case they've got you covered. Of course you can also download individual files if you need to recover just one specific file or folder. On an average connection that could take weeks. That way you don't have wait to download a Terabyte of files. If you need to restore a huge backup they will just send you a hard drive. What is sneakernet? Sneakernet is a method for transferring computer files by physically couriering removable media like a hard drive. The beauty of the system is that alongside the unlimited backups they incorporate sneakernet to get your files back to you. The software also throttles uploads so that it doesn't consume all your bandwidth when you need it. The application continuously sends your data to the cloud. It's just a small application that runs in the menu bar of your mac and it runs silently in the background. You can relax knowing that all of your master files are stored safely in the cloud. So no matter how many huge RAW files you have, you can back them up to the cloud. Well, Flickr used to be awesome but you get the idea. Posted in News, Software Development Tagged audacity, privacy, privacy policy, telemetry Post navigation Unfortunately the issue of Audacity’s inflammatory Contributor License Agreement (CLA) has yet to be resolved, meaning recently christened forks of the audio editor dedicated to preserving its GPLv2 lineage are unlikely to stand down anytime soon. Those worried their FOSS audio editor of choice would start spying on them can rest easy. Muse Group promised to revise their plans for adding telemetry to Audacity, and judging by the new Privacy Policy, it seems they’ve done an admirable job of addressing all of the issues brought up by the community. The clause about working with unnamed law enforcement agencies has been deleted, as has the particularly troubling age requirement.Ĭredit where credit is due. It’s further explained in the GitHub post that the automatic update feature only applies to official binary builds of Audacity, meaning it will be disabled for Linux users who install it through their distribution’s package repository. The new Privacy Policy makes it clear that Audacity won’t be collecting any user data, and what little personally identifiable information Muse Group gets from the application when it automatically checks for an update (namely, the client’s IP address) isn’t being stored. That sounds reasonable enough, but why where these same teams not consulted before releasing such a spectacularly ill-conceived draft? Project lead Martin Keary, better known online as Tantacrul, says the team had to consult with various legal teams before they could release the revised policy. But it’s still difficult to understand why Muse Group publicly posted such a poorly constructed version of the document in the first place. Ultimately, the new Privacy Policy bears little resemblance to the earlier draft. It seems much of the problem can be attributed to an over-analysis of the situation with the company inserting provocative boilerplate protections (such as a clause saying users must be over the age of 13) that simply weren’t necessary. The announcement also came with an admission that many of the key elements from the draft version of the Privacy Policy were poorly worded and confusing. In a recent post to Audacity’s GitHub repository, Muse Group unveiled the revised version of their much maligned Privacy Policy. An already precarious situation has only been made worse by a series of PR blunders Muse Group has made over the last several months.īut for a change, it seems things might be moving in the right direction. The company says their goal is to modernize the 20 year old GPLv2 program and bring it to a larger audience, but many in the community have questioned whether the new managers really understand the free software ethos. Regular readers will likely be aware of the considerable debate over changes being made to the free and open source audio editor Audacity by the project’s new owners, Muse Group. In today's NBA, Mirotić could be a heck of a small-ball 5, with his ability to spread the floor and occasionally attack off the bounce. He had solid block and steal rates for a player of his role and position too. Over his last two seasons in the league, he averaged 15.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 threes, while shooting 37.1 percent from deep. Nikola Mirotić is back playing overseas, but he certainly wasn't forced out of the NBA. Stephen Curry, Buddy Hield and Duncan Robinson are the only players in league history who match or exceed both of Bertāns' career marks for three-point percentage and three-point attempts per possession.ġ4. He's become a bit of a punchline due to a big contract signed in 2020, but Dāvis Bertāns can be a heck of a weapon in the right circumstance. His finishes were often spectacular, but an inability to score outside the paint or spread numbers throughout the rest of the box score limited his impact. In 2013-14, he averaged 16.6 points and 4.0 assists, while shooting 37.0 percent from deep.įor a few years with the Denver Nuggets, Kenneth Faried played like the quintessential hustle big. Injuries robbed Chandler Parsons of what appeared to be a pretty solid run as a point forward. In his early years, Reggie Jackson was a long, dynamic slasher who could get to the paint. Markieff Morris has a career double-figure scoring average, but he'd never be mistaken for a playmaker, and his career shooting efficiency is well below average.Īt his peak, Tristan Thompson was a dominant rebounder (particularly on the offensive side of the floor) and a passable rim protector who won a championship in 2016. Tristan Thompson Jason Miller/Getty Images Numerous buyers have expressed dissatisfaction. However, over 20% of these reviews are negative one and two star reviews. I found almost 100 online user reviews of the Moso bags, with an average rating of four stars. Moso's market penetration includes The Container Store, and carries the "natural" bags. "Passive" also means the bag requires little effort from the user, other than occasional airing out and sunning the bag. The correct term is "adsorb," which means molecules attaching to a surface by electrostatic (ionic) attraction. Many vendors and numerous user reviews use the term absorb to describe the process of odor molecule retention. Moso's bags are passive air purifiers, meaning they have no fan to propel air through the adsorbent media. Small Mosos, sized nicely for insertion into stinky boots or hanging on a cat litter box, are two for ten bucks. With the largest Moso Natural bag (500 grams) selling for about twenty bucks, here is an option for folks whoĬan't pony up for a motorized air cleaner, many of which have less carbon than the Moso bag. I join other indoor air quality experts, who universally recommend against using chemical air fresheners/deodorizers of any kind.Īt least as bad are things that burn, such as scented candles, covering the odor with a new scent and filling the air with tiny black spheres of carbon. Most of the billions spent on indoor odor devices, found in three quarters of American homes, goes to unhealthy scent-maskers that just fool the nose into thinking air is clean. Moso introduced their bags to the American market in August 2010, creating a new product category.ĭespite the company's overstated "green" marketing and somewhat exaggerated claims, I like this product as an alternative to the popular, and often toxic, "air fresheners" and other chemical responses to the indoor odor problem. Moso Natural offers a natural odor control product, the Moso Air Purifying Bag. The number one principle any indoor air authority will cite is "attack the source before installing the air cleaner."īut there are many odor sources that cannot easily be removed.įor several years, I have been advising people to "just put some carbon near the odor," without stumbling onto the products from Moso. Unpleasant odors - from cigarette smoke, cooking, pet litter, cleaning chemicals, and mold - are a social embarrassment and a health problem. |
